Mets vs. Padres score: Live updates as New York tries to keep the season alive in the Wild Card Series

The New York Mets turned to Jacob deGrom with their season on the line Saturday night as they host the San Diego Padres in Game 2 of their Wild Card Series. The Padres — who lead the best-of-three series 1-0 — shocked the Mets with a blowout win on Friday evening, a contest that saw New York ace Max Scherzer depart to a chorus of boos. Here’s how to watch Game 2.

The two clubs have traded runs through five innings in Game 2. Francisco Lindor opened the scoring with a first inning solo homer, Trent Grisham answered with a solo shot of his own in the third. Brandon Nimmo gave the Mets the lead again with a fourth inning RBI single, Jurickson Profar tied the game back up with an RBI single in the fifth, then Pete Alonso swatted a solo homer in the next half inning to put the Mets ahead 3- 2.

Former Cy Young award winner Blake Snell walked six in only 3 1/3 innings, although the Mets stranded seven runners through four innings and mostly failed to capitalize. DeGrom dominated the first two innings, but the Padres have taken some pretty good swings against him after that.
