Alabama State football struggles late in the loss to Jackson State

Alabama State football couldn’t get enough offense to keep up in a 26-12 loss to Jackson State on Saturday at Hornet Stadium.

The Hornets led off the scoring with Dematrius Davis finding Kisean Johnson for a 19-yard score. Jackson State scored the next 17 points before the Hornets got the game within one score early in the fourth quarter as Keeundra Salter recovered a Myles Crawley fumble for the score. Jackson State added two late scores.

The Hornets (3-3, 1-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) were led by Myles Crawley who went 10-for-17 for 74 yards. The Tigers (5-0, 3-0 SWAC) were led by Shedeur Sanders who went 30-of-46 for 332 yards and three touchdowns.

Davis injured, Crawley shines

Davis suffered a shoulder injury late in the second quarter and was replaced the rest of the way by Myles Crawley. Davis went 6-of-9 for 60 yards and a touchdown while leading the offense to a total of 75 yards.
