An Australian expert has revealed the secret signals in Prince William and Prince Harry’s body language that give a major clue about the current state of their relationship.

Connection Specialist and Body Language Expert Katia Loisel analyzed the interaction between the two brothers – along with their wives Kate, the Princess of Wales and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex – as the foursome unexpectedly met mourners outside Windsor Castle on September 10.

William reportedly only asked Harry to join him and Kate outside the gates only an hour before the meeting.

However, Loisel, told 7NEWS.com.au while the brothers “may appear a little distant” in the video, they walk together, “in unison and often in sync”.

“When we feel uncomfortable in someone’s presence, we tend to distance ourselves, subconsciously orienting our bodies away from them,” Loisel explained.

“However, we don’t see this between the royals.”

“Whilst they are at times distant in proximity, there are several moments of non-verbal synchrony and non-verbal synchrony between the pair, suggesting a united front and a family perhaps brought together by shared grief.”

Loisel said while Harry and Meghan walked side by side holding hands, Prince William and Kate, who are “traditionally more reserved” were “noticeably less tactile, keeping a little distance as they walked”.

“Rather than being an indication of disconnection, the pair’s (William and Kate’s) purposeful walk, arms loosely by their sides, reflects the seriousness of the occasion and indicates a couple who is confident in their roles and may not feel the need to constantly check in,” she said.

“However, whilst the couple retain a more formal appearance, reflecting their position as royals, they do reconnect, walking in sync, Prince William placing his hand on Kate’s back, providing a sense of reassurance.”

As both couples walked towards the gates and the waiting crowd, Loisel said she noticed a “high number of manipulators and partial arm barriers” which indicated a level of discomfort.

“For instance, as they walked towards the memorial, we see Prince Harry with his head lowered, holding on to his belt, then quickly touching his face, jacket, and tie before placing his hand across his body, his right hand holding on to the lapel of his jacket, providing a sense of reassurance,” she said.

“Similarly, Meghan’s ducked head and turtling of the neck, use of manipulators such as the touching of her hair and her need for closeness, her body pulling in close and falling behind Harry, indicate emotional discomfort and that she may have been feeling vulnerable.

“On a couple of occasions we see Prince Harry’s arm extended out as he walks towards the gate with Meghan. This nonverbal distancing reveals a need for a little more space while remaining connected,” she added.

“Whilst less frequent and apparent than with Prince Harry, Prince William also shows signs of discomfort, adopting a partial arm barrier, his left hand adjusting the buttons and lapel of his jacket in unison with Prince Harry.”

Loisel added the enormity of the situation was clearly “taking its toll on even the most stoic of the royals”.

Relations have been strained between the two sons of the King after Harry and Meghan moved to the United States and the four had not been seen so closely together since.

Royal editor Russell Myers told Sunrise the move, from William, “speaks volumes”.

“We saw Prince William next to his father today and those two men are really going to work in tandem,” Myers said.

“William does see his role as a unifying force and certainly the fact that we saw the Fab Four – as we have called them in the past – together again has certainly got people talking.

“I am sure that the Queen definitely wanted them to come together and try to heal this bitter rift that has been going on for so long.”

Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter said the move meant the brothers were putting “family first”.
