FREE SOIL — People brought their pets and even stuffed animals from as far away as Illinois to be blessed during a Free Soil event.
It was also appropriate that the theme of the Circle Rocking S Children’s Farm Blessing of the Animals event on Sunday was Noah’s Ark.
Rev. John Brown and Rev. John Hansen presided over the blessing service.
Dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, turkeys and stuffed animals were blessed, according to a news release on the event.
The event also featured a pet show, games, silent auction, a pet and pet owner look-alike contest, pet talent contest, costume contests and other activities.

(From center left) Waylan Briggs, of Free Soil, won second place and Alec Omell, of Manistee, took first place in the Blessing of the Animals pie eating contest on Sunday.
